Ellen Page and Drew Barrymore Star in Whip It
What’s a girly-girl to do when she no longer wants to be a girly-girl? Trading in her beauty pageant crown for a pair of roller derby skates is one answer. In the directorial debut of Drew Barrymore comes a story about a Texas teenager who suddenly feels like she’s not getting satisfaction from life. Bliss, played by Ellen Page, is an indie rock loving suburbanite who stumbles into the world of roller derby by accident and discovers it is exactly what she’s looking for: high-energy, cool, dangerous and most importantly 100 percent completely not mainstream.
Starring alongside Ellen Page is Marcia Gay Harden, Juliette Lewis, Jimmy Fallon, Daniel Stern and director Drew Barrymore.
The soundtrack shouldn’t be overlooked. All sorts of interesting stuff from artists like Tilly and the Wall, The Ramones, Peaches, and even a remix by Squeak E. Clean of The Chordettes track Lollipop.
